"Intellectual" could have been left out of the title as Hamerton asks and at least tries to answer deep fundamental questions about life in general. Many of these questions are of the basic kind you dont often see asked anywhere and even more seldom answered/5. The intellectual life is dangerous; the greatest vices stem from the spirit, and there is an intimate connection between knowing the truth and not ordering our souls to the good. This book is a practical handbook of the habitual concern to pursue the truth.
